Moreover, CryptoMate is specially designed for PKI-based (Public Key Infrastructure) applications. All sensitive credentials and private keys remain in the token as they are stored in the smart card and not in the computer, thus letting one achieve ultimate security.

Middleware
ACS offers two types of middleware that each allows customers to use CryptoMate for cryptographic applications with their own certificates. The cryptographic service provider (CSP) is suited for MS-CAPI applications, while PKCS#11 is suited for all other applications such as Mozilla and Netscape.
