Half of the world’s smartphones and tablets are now powered by AndroidTM OS. Android's astounding dominance will be likely to persist for a long time, causing a ripple effect to other technology industry players, challenging them to make their own products and services compatible with AndroidTM. By offering a new AndroidTM library, ACS smart card readers can now work with AndroidTM devices with AndroidTM OS 3.1 (Honeycomb) or higher versions. These readers include the ACR38 series, ACR122U, ACR122T, ACR83, and APG8201.
ACS has created demo applications showcasing how applications running on the AndroidTM platform can be developed using ACS readers. These demo applications, namely, ACS Smart Biz Card, ACS-Medical Practitioner Demo, and , can be found and downloaded from the Google Play Store for free here.
