ACS unveiled its latest products and joined the event’s conferences, with ACS Sales Director, Mr. Gilbert Leung and ACS Regional Sales Manager, Mr. Gordon Lee, representing the company as speakers.
Cards Asia 2011,now in its 16th edition, is one of Asia’s biggest exhibitions for cards and payments. Organized by Terrapinn, the event provides a platform to enable various industry leaders in Asia to gather and showcase their latest card and payment solutions to the Asian market. This year, over 70 exhibitors were present in the event including ACS, who exhibited its latest offerings in contactless payment. In particular, ACS introduced its new ACR1281 Card Application Number (C.A.N.) Reader, a contactless reader designed to work with Singapore’s CEPAS card by providing CEPAS cardholders with a secure means for authenticating their identity when performing CEPAS transactions. This reader is capable of detecting the CEPAS C.A.N. automatically and efficiently, allowing users to proceed with their transactions with ease.

Meanwhile, ACS Sales Director Gilbert and ACS Regional Sales Manager Gordon were invited as speakers in the event’s conferences. Gilbert delivered a speech on online banking security via two-factor authentication, highlighting the role of the MasterCard CAP (Chip Authentication Program) / PLA (Perso-less Authentication) in eliminating the risks of online identity theft effectively. "Utilizing this standard along with a secure physical device, such as a one-time password generator, an EMV card and a user’s personal PIN," explained Gilbert, “online banking patrons can be more effectively safeguarded from even more sophisticated security attacks that may render simple two-factor authentication inadequate.”
On the other hand, Gordon presented a lecture on single card solutions, citing Singapore’s CEPAS contactless e-purse application standard as a business case that the world can emulate in implementing multiple applications by using a single card. He emphasized on the benefits of extending the use of contactless cards from purely transport-based applications to other payment and non-payment applications, including retail payment and loyalty programs, recreational services, and physical and logical access control. Gordon stated that with a single card solution, people may pay for different types of daily activities, such as riding a bus, going to the gym, buying a cup of coffee or accessing corporate networks, all with a tap of a single card on a contactless card reading device-truly, “a tap for an easier life.”
