ACS provides first ever smart card technology training in the Philippines

HONG KONG, 11 Jun, 2010 – Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number one supplier of PC-linked smart card readers, conducted the first ever basic smart card training in the Philippines from 25 to 26 May, 2010 at the Richmonde Hotel Pasig City, Manila. Mr. Keng Boon Tan and Mr. Andrew Chan, ACS Chief Technology Officer and Product Development Manager respectively, shared their expertise with attendees representing various industries in the Philippines and other South East Asian countries.
“We are very enthusiastic about sharing our knowledge to interested parties, whether they are IT professionals developing smart card applications or businessmen who are simply considering incorporating smart cards into their businesses,” expressed Mr. Keng Boon Tan. “It is fortunate that we can extend our smart card training from Hong Kong to the Philippines, where smart card applications have just been starting.”
The two-day smart card training covered diverse topics, including smart card introduction and applications, industry standards and compliance, and complementary technologies like cryptography and Near Field Communications (NFC). Twenty-two participants from fifteen companies registered in the event. Aside from a Software Development Kit (SDK) for either the ACR38 PC-linked Reader or the ACR122 NFC Contactless Reader and a CD compiling all training lectures, each participant received a certificate from the training.
“The feedbacks we received from our participants have been very favourable, and we are glad about the successful outcome of the first smart card training in the Philippines. We hope this endeavour has helped set the stage for these companies to explore the capabilities of smart card applications in our local scene, ” stated Ms. Malu Pineda, General Manager for ACS Philippines.
