ACS announces opening of new sales office in Japan and appoints Hiroyuki Shimada

Hong Kong, 31 Dec, 2008 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (Hong Kong Stock Exchange: 8210, https://www.acs.com.hk/), Asia Pacific's number one supplier in PC-linked smart card readers industry (Source: Frost & Sullivan), announces the opening of its new sales and support office in Tokyo, Japanand the appointment of Mr Hiroyuki Shimada as General Manager of Advanced Card Systems (Japan).

Mr Shimada will coordinate all sales & marketing activities across ACS Japan and further assist in developing the company's Japan sales Strategy. He brings with him in-depth knowledge of the smart card and reader knowledge as well as corporate security services, particularly in the area of contactless and NFC (Near Field Communications) technology. 'ACS's local presence will bring us closer to the market, and at the same time, enable us to better serve our existing and potential strategic partners in Japan,' commented Mr Denny Wong, CEO of Advanced Card Systems Ltd., 'this act not only deepens ACS's penetration in the Asia-Pacific region, but also expands its global footprint.'

Mr Hiroyuki Shimada joined ACS Japan as General Manager in December, 2008. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree of Engineering in Machine Engineering from Aoyama Gakuin University, Japan. He has over two-decades' experience in the smart card industry. He used to work in CSK Holdings Group and Gemplus Japan Co., Ltd. (now Gemalto). In his new role, Mr Shimada will be responsible for ACS's
strategic sales development in Japan.
