ACS Hong Kong, 15 Jan 2008 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (HONG KONG STOCK Exchange: 8210, www.acs.com.hk), Asia Pacific's number one supplier in PC-linked smart card readers industry (Source: research report issued by Frost & Sullivan), was invited to attend an interview by Classified Post, a well-recognized newspaper in Asia orientated towards recruitment and career. The two interviewees? Denny WONG, Chairman & CEO and Andrew CHAN, Assistant Project Manager expressed their professional opinions on recruiting prospect and career path in smart card industry.
This industry has been growing extensively for recent years, such as national ID cards based on smart card technology and contactless payment. Being one of the major players, ACS is eager to develop any innovative smart-card readers, smart card and related security products as well as to explore any potential markets all over the world. Denny Wong predicts the trend will continue to grow, creating lots of job opportunities. He said in the interview, "Wherever there are payments to be made, eventually, there will be smart cards to replace it." He also mentioned, "In the past two years, we have never stopped hiring engineers. We have also hired sales and marketing people for our offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Manila in order to cope with the growth of our business". All these show his optimistic view towards the industry.
The other interviewee Andrew Chan talked about his job nature, responsibility and working experience in ACS. His valuable sharing makes a good reference for job-seekers who have interest in working in this field. He felt satisfied with his job, solving the security vulnerabilities, and traveling aboard to provide training and support to customers. Besides, he highlighted some crucial criteria for a successful engineer. "This is a fast-evolving field, and there are always new things to learn. I read a lot of IT magazines and books. Having a lifelong learning drive is important. My interest in this field keeps me motivated and wanting to upgrade my knowledge all the time," he said.
