ACS launches its new ACOS7 Dual-interface Smart Card for the World Transportation Market

ACS participates in The Second Cross Strait Railway Conference 2010
HONG KONG, 2 Feb, 2010 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number one supplier of PC-linked smart card readers, participated in The Second Cross Strait Railway Conference held on January 15-16, 2010, at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, Macau. ACS Engineering Manager, Mr. Eric Lee (picture on the left), represented the company by giving a brief lecture on smart card readers and terminals for the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC). Eric began the discussion with a background on the AFC system, introducing its building blocks and relevant hardware. He also emphasized the advantages of integrating the AFC system with the smart card technology offered by ACS, and further elaborated its applications outside the landscape of transportation. Concluding his presentation, he said that with the use of good and secure smart card readers and terminals, and the integration of proper SAM, AFC applications could now extend beyond the scope of transportation. He further stated that the availability of high performance 32-bit terminal hardware in ACS products like ACR300 Bus Validator , ACR880 Mobile Ticketing Terminal and eH880 Secure Reloading Terminal; and ACOS7 Dual-interface Smart Card, enabled application implementation with much lower cost without compromising reliability and security. The conference was attended by a number of railway delegates from China, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong and Singapore. ACS Sales Director, Mr. Gilbert Leung, headed the showcase for the ACR122 Series, ACS’s NFC contactless smart card reader product line, and delivered a speech in the event’s NFC Forum entitled “Moving Towards NFC in 2010.” Organized since 1999 by Nikkei Inc., IC Card World is a huge smart card and RFID event in Japan that serves as an avenue for smart card industry players to show their innovative products and exchange dialogue for the industry’s overall progress. Subsequently, he cited some actual NFC-based projects to show the advantages of using NFC over traditional contactless technology. “With NFC, smart card readers are now not only capable of performing read or write functions, but also of performing card emulation and Peer to Peer (P2P) functions supporting vast applications, such as e-purse payments, top-up solutions, and website promotion via an NFC phone, which are currently gaining huge public interest,” said Gilbert. “At ACS, we recognize this reality and develop products to explore the immense potential of the NFC market. ACS participates in the first Cartes in Asia exhibition and congress
HONG KONG, 24 Mar, 2010 – Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number one supplier of PC-linked smart card readers, participated in the first ever Cartes in Asia exhibition and congress held at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo Exhibition Center from 16 to 18 Mar, 2010. ACS exhibited its products and participated in the Contactless Payment Conference, where ACS Sales Director, Mr. Gilbert Leung, shared ACS’s experience in global NFC and contactless applications. Cartes in Asia officially kicked off with the commencement of the Asian Card Summit on 16 Mar, 2010. The inauguration was immediately followed by the presentation of the Asian SESAMES Award, and the two-day exhibition and congress held on 17 to 18 Mar, 2010. Several thousands of visitors comprised of market players and decision makers from industries such as banking, telecommunications and transportation, attended the event that showcased the latest and most innovative smart card and digital technologies by over 100 exhibitors, including ACS. ACS exhibited flagship product lines like the ACR38 family of PC-linked smart card readers and the ACR122 family of NFC readers, among others. Visitors, mainly from China, Southeast Asia, France and Africa, came to visit and view the products at the ACS booth. Meanwhile, the two-day congress that welcomed the attendance of some 300 delegates opened the discussion on relevant industry topics, such as mobile payment strategy, governmental credentials, and smart security access. Mr. Gilbert Leung was among the speakers for the conference on contactless payments, where he presented an experience sharing on global NFC and contactless applications. Touching on the difference between traditional contactless and NFC technology for his introduction, he went on to present case studies referencing to ACS’s participation in certain NFC-based projects such as AFC (Automated Fare Collection) card projects in Singapore and Hong Kong, contactless payment scheme in taxis in Switzerland, and URL Advertising via NFC Phones in Japan.
