  • ACS Launches ACR122 and ACR128 Contactless Reader SDK

ACS, Hong Kong, 1 Sep, 2008 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (HONG KONG STOCK Exchange: 8210, www.acs.com.hk), Asia Pacific's number one supplier in PC-linked smart card readers industry (Source: research report issued by Frost & Sullivan), launches its ACR122 NFC Contactless Smart Card Reader Software Development Kit (ACR122 SDK) and ACR128 DualBoost Smart Card Reader Software Development Kit (ACR128 SDK). The two types of readers perform different functions and serve different markets. The ACR122 is the world’s first CCID-compliant NFC reader, supporting all major contactless cards and tags including MiFare, ISO14443 Type A and B Cards, FeliCa and NFC tags. The ACR128 DualBoost is a dual interface smart card reader fully compliant not only to ISO 7816 Part 1-3 Class A, B standard for the Contact smart card, but also to ISO 14443 Part 1-4 Type A, B standard for the Contactless Card. The software development kit (SDK) lets the users experience the features and capabilities of the device. Both SDKs contains sample codes written in different programming language, such as Delphi 7, Visual Basic 6, Visual C++ 6, Visual C++ 2005 (x64), Visual C# 2005, and Visual Basic .Net 2005. These sample codes showcases how to control the device peripherals and how to communicate with the smart cards. Furthermore, the tools and utilities enable the users to perform reader and card-related operations. In the ACR128 SDK, an additional small-scale database demo application is included and it shows the users how the ACR128 DualBoost can be implemented in a smart card based application. With the help of SDKs, the users will find no difficulty in making their own smart-card applications with the ACR122 and the ACR128 DualBoost. • ACS giving a speech in APSCA's NFC Non-Payment Forum

ACS, Hong Kong, 10 Mar, 2008 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (HONG KONG STOCK Exchange: 8210, www.acs.com.hk), Asia Pacific's number one supplier in PC-linked smart card readers industry (Source: research report issued by Frost & Sullivan), gave a presentation in the NFC Non-Payment Forum co-organized by APSCA (Asia Pacific Smart Card Association) and NIKKEI in IC Card World 2008, in Tokyo, Japan on March 4, 2008.The event attracted over a hundred delegates from Japan and the rest of the Asia Pacific region. All of them received a free ACR122 NFC contactless smart card reader evaluation kit (ACR122 EVK) from ACS. Composed of an ACR122, NFC tags and a CD-ROM which includes demos and utilities, the ACR122 EVK lets software developers build different NFC applications more conveniently and efficiently. Keng Boon Tan, Chief Technical Officer of ACS, presented the opportunities in non-payment NFC applications. He pointed out that creativity is the most important element in developing NFC applications aside from simply having contactless applications migrating to NFC ones. However, limited pilot before mass roll-out is essential as end-users need a proof-of-concept on the NFC technologies."By distributing the ACR122 EVK to all the attendees, we hope that the NFC technology could be facilitated and more widely applied to different areas," Keng Boon Tan commented. "As the NFC technology is still at the growing stage, it needs discussions and cooperations among different market players. APSCA played an excellent role and provided a good platform for smart card industry players to share and debate about their points of views. I appreciate this opportunity and I look forward to taking part in this kind of forum in the near future!"
