This online home banking project, cooperated with a leading local bank and the largest telecommunication company in that country, makes use of VoIP (Voice-over-Internet Protocol) desktop phone together with ACS smart card technologies to provide a convenient and secure environment for bank card holders to enjoy banking services at home. After launching this project, the bank card holders can manage their day-to-day banking transactions at home without using a PC. "Servicing a customer online is the most economical way for a bank. Most of the banks intend to adopt a service model in which almost all transactions can be conducted online and done by authenticating the documents through digital signatures from smart cards,” says Gilbert Leung, Sales Director of ACS. “We are delighted that ACS was selected by the bank to contribute to this project with its smart card expertise. One of the challenges we had to overcome was the issue of reader compatibility with different working environments.
