ACS ACR1222U-J4 Web-To Reader shortlisted in 2012 Sesames Awards

HONG KONG, 02 Nov, 2012 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), emerged as one of the finalists out of 475 aspirants in the 2012 Sesames Awards, which is part of the Cartes Exhibition and Conference in Paris, France. One of ACS’s contactless readers, the ACR1222U-J4 Web-To Reader, has been shortlisted in the hardware category.

The ACR1222U-J4 Web-To Reader enables easy and instant mobile marketing by sending customized URLs of promotional materials, e.g. product leaflets and discount coupons, to phones embedded with Mobile FeliCa, a form of contactless technology widely adopted in Japan. Customized for the Mobile FeliCa market, this standalone and handy device is deployed in Japan, and is installed on smart posters in densely populated areas, like metro stations and shopping malls, for mass marketing. It has also been carried by marketing personnel for direct promotion to targeted audience.

For 2012, a jury of 38 international experts in their respective fields chose 36 finalists out of 475 submissions for contention of 11 awards. The ACR1222U-J4 is one of three finalists in contention for the hardware award, where the winner will be announced along with the winners of the other categories during the Sesames Awards Ceremony on 5 November, 2012 in Paris, France.
