What is CCID?
CCID stands for Chip/Smart Card Interface Devices. This specification is an approach to smart card reader communication. CCID defines a standard communication protocol for smart card readers that connect to a computer through USB interface, allowing the same host-side driver to communicate with any CCID-compliant smart card reader.

What is the accuracy of the fingerprint scanner?
Fingerprint scanning technology today is roughly equivalent to a four-digit PIN, i.e. a false acceptance in the range of 1 in 10,000.

Am I able to access the raw fingerprint data?
There is no need for the solution house to have the raw fingerprint data because the template extraction and matching processes are done by the API (Application Programming Interface) provided. This arrangement makes the usage simpler and more secure.

Will authentication be affected by the dryness or wetness of the finger?
Frankly speaking, no fingerprint sensor can capture the full spectrum of extremely wet to extremely dry fingerprints. However, the range detected can be improved by auto-regulation through the quality feedback from the image captured. If the fingerprint is very dry or fine: The quality will depend on the image-capturing ability of the scanner. CCD would provide the best scanning quality, but these scanners are not cost-effective. Optical scanners are less expensive, but their indirect scanning method produces less satisfactory results. The best solution would be direct scanning methods offered by solid state devices, such as TouchStrip. If the fingerprint is very wet: The TouchStrip on AET62 and AET65 has a special coating to address wet fingers.

Is the matching algorithm one-to-one or one-to-many?
First of all, one-to-one matching entails matching the live fingerprint to one specified template. Technically, if the template is in the smart card, the template belongs to the cardholder. If the template is in a PC, a few different templates can be compared to the live fingerprint through successive one-to-one matching. The algorithm of the AET62 and AET62 is one-to-one. One-to-many algorithm is typically used by law enforcement parties for criminal and forensic applications, which require sophisticated computers to match a fingerprint against a huge database.

What is Contactless Smart Card Technology?
Contactless Smart Card Technology makes use of RFID Induction Technology to enable communication between a contactless smart card and a smart card reader/writer. Contactless smart cards operate in close proximity to an antenna inside the reader for data transfer. Typical contactless technology applications include micropayments, loyalty programs, automatic fare collection systems, and physical access control.
