Both new products are designed to provide banking customers with an easy implemented solution to process bank transactions securely. Trusteer, an internet security firm, based in the USA, reports in a study involving more than four million respondents that 73% of internet banking clients share their online banking password with at least one non-financial website, while 47% share both their online banking username and password with at least one non-financial website.   HONG KONG, 1 Mar, 2011 – Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number 1 supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), today introduces AET65, a Smart Card Reader with Fingerprint Sensor that uses biometric technology to enhance the security in many smart card applications. Biometric authentication remains to be the most effective solution for applications requiring a higher level of security. A method that accurately identifies individuals by analyzing their unique biological characteristics-such as fingerprints and vocal patterns-biometric authentication practically eliminates the risk of identity fraud. There are two ways of implementing a biometric authentication system, or in this case fingerprint authentication system, using fingerprint recognition algorithm: the 1:1 and 1:N recognition algorithms. The 1:N algorithm compares the captured fingerprint with N number of fingerprints stored. This setup could be costly if high speed and high reliability are sought after, especially if N is a big figure. “ACS addresses the downside in setting up a security system solely based on biometrics by developing smart card readers with an integrated fingerprint sensor - AET65 devices.
