ACS Launches APG82 PINhandy OTP (One Time Password) Generator
ACS, Hong Kong, 2 Jul 2008 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (HONG KONG STOCK Exchange: 8210, www.acs.com.hk), Asia Pacific's number one supplier in PC-linked smart card readers industry (Source: research report issued by Frost & Sullivan), launches its APG82 PINhandy OTP (One Time Password) Generator. What is APG82 PINhandy?APG82 PINhandy OTP generator is a compact, completely standalone, low-cost, handheld smart card device that contains a numeric keypad and a display. Certified with stringent international standards as Mastercard® Card Authentication Program (CAP) and VISA Dynamic Passcode Authentication (DPA), and EMV Level 1, you can use the device in a variety of payment and bank applications. How APG82 PINhandy works?Using two-factor authentication, the cardholder inserts the EMV payment card (something you have) in the APG82 PINhandy, enters the PIN (something you know) using the device keyboard and a dynamic one-time password is generated and showed on the APG82 PINhandy display. Cardholder can then use this password to perform secure online transactions, telephone orders or e-banking logons. Why APG82 PINhandy is secure and can minimize cost of specialized programming? Having no physical connection to the cardholder’s internet authentication device like PC, Macintosh, or smart phone, the unconnected mode of APG82 PINhandy makes it impossible for hackers to steal the sensitive information in the card. Also as APG82 PINhandy is a standalone device, specialized programming like software drivers is not required. Why APG82 PINhandy is durable?Replaceable batteries allow users to reuse PINhandy after the run down of battery, rather than to scrap it and create electronic waste. ACS giving a speech in APSCA's NFC Non-Payment Forum
ACS, Hong Kong, 10 Mar, 2008 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (HONG KONG STOCK Exchange: 8210, www.acs.com.hk), Asia Pacific's number one supplier in PC-linked smart card readers industry (Source: research report issued by Frost & Sullivan), gave a presentation in the NFC Non-Payment Forum co-organized by APSCA (Asia Pacific Smart Card Association) and NIKKEI in IC Card World 2008, in Tokyo, Japan on March 4, 2008.The event attracted over a hundred delegates from Japan and the rest of the Asia Pacific region. All of them received a free ACR122 NFC contactless smart card reader evaluation kit (ACR122 EVK) from ACS. Composed of an ACR122, NFC tags and a CD-ROM which includes demos and utilities, the ACR122 EVK lets software developers build different NFC applications more conveniently and efficiently. Keng Boon Tan, Chief Technical Officer of ACS, presented the opportunities in non-payment NFC applications. He pointed out that creativity is the most important element in developing NFC applications aside from simply having contactless applications migrating to NFC ones. However, limited pilot before mass roll-out is essential as end-users need a proof-of-concept on the NFC technologies."By distributing the ACR122 EVK to all the attendees, we hope that the NFC technology could be facilitated and more widely applied to different areas," Keng Boon Tan commented. "As the NFC technology is still at the growing stage, it needs discussions and cooperations among different market players. APSCA played an excellent role and provided a good platform for smart card industry players to share and debate about their points of views. I appreciate this opportunity and I look forward to taking part in this kind of forum in the near future!" Please feel free to download ACS's presentation material here.
