  HONG KONG, 27 April, 2017 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. ACS was recognized under the Seamless Government Experience category for its entry, “Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.” The entry refers to an initiative launched by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to bring a full spectrum of labor-related transactions online. In 2013, the UAE government’s Ministry of Labor launched an online platform where employers and employees can perform e-government transactions, such as applying for labor permits or submitting employee contracts. End users are authenticated into the platform with an e-certificate contained in their national IDs, as well as a PIN, to prevent impersonation. The initiative uses ACS’s ACR89 Handheld Smart Card Reader. It is issued directly to companies, and distributed in service kiosks throughout the country. ACR89 is used to authenticate users through their national ID. This smart card reader with PIN-pad has been chosen for the project because of its tamper resistance, plug-and-play operation, long battery life, and low energy consumption. • ACS Launches USB Type C Readers for ACR39U Series

  HONG KONG, 04, May, 2017 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 2086), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), launched two new readers, the ACR39U-UF Smart Card Reader and ACR39U-NF PocketMate II. Both readers feature a USB Type C connector, but have different form factors. ACR39U-UF Smart Card Reader comes in a palm-sized form factor, with a scratch-resistant matte finish. Meanwhile, ACR39U-NF PocketMate II is no bigger than a USB stick. It transforms into a reader for full-sized smart cards through a swivel motion. The USB Type C connector increases convenience for users because it can be inserted any side up into the USB port and can be plugged into mobile devices. The Type C connector is a less bulky alternative that works with other emerging standards, such as USB power delivery and USB 3.0 for faster processing speed. It is also compliant with PC/SC and CCID standards. Because of their high-performing ACR39U core, the readers are suitable for demanding applications. Security is assured through compliance with major certifications. The flat-bottomed form factor of the ACR39U-UF makes it ideal for desk-based transactions, e.g. at-home access to e-government services. Meanwhile, the USB stick form factor of ACR39U-NF makes it ideal for field-based use, e.g. for enabling logical access to representatives constantly on the road.
