  • ACS Solutions Shortlisted in Smart Awards Asia 2015

HONG KONG, 14 April, 2015 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), is a finalist for the Best Loyalty Program and Best Payment Innovation categories in Smart Awards Asia 2015. ACS’s entry for Best Loyalty Program is e-PLUS Tap to Pay, an end-to-end loyalty and payment system for the biggest mall operator, developer, and retail company in the Philippines. e-PLUS is a powerful platform for loyalty because it unifies a comprehensive range of merchants and service providers under one system. For consumers, this means exposure to more options and benefits, making the search for the most competitive goods and services easier. For merchants, this means wider reach, as they have a convenient way to offer perks to a broader customer base. The system also provides merchants and service providers with on-demand access to data. Such data include customer demographics, transaction times, and so forth. Access to such information can yield insight on how to improve future loyalty programs and other business activities. Meanwhile, ACS’s entry for Best Payment Innovation is the Abiria Card, a stored value contactless smart card, loaded with e-money and used to pay fares for public transport in Kenya. One of the innovative features of the Abiria Card is the deferred-reloading function, which serves as an additional top-up channel for fare cards (the other one being the physical brick-and-mortar reloading center). Through the deferred-reloading function, commuters can top up fare cards anytime and anywhere using mobile money. Deferred reloading is important because it makes the transition from cash-based to electronic payments painless for commuters. Mobile money is a fixture among Kenyans, even among the poor. By choosing a prevalent feature of enabling top-ups in daily life, the system is able to deliver smart card‒based solutions to a wider segment of society. Deferred reloading is also a workaround to the relatively underdeveloped reloading infrastructure in Kenya. Smart Awards Asia 2015 is an annual event that honors excellence in the card, payment, and retail industries. It is organized by Terrapin, a company that has been organizing business events globally for over 25 years. Winners will be announced on 22 April 2015. “ACS solutions are increasingly being recognized in the international arena,” says Gilbert Leung, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing. “The recognitions we receive are proof that we are serving customers and contributing to communities in an innovative and sustainable manner. We have yet another reason to further improve our technologies and solutions.” For more information on ACS solutions, email [email protected] or visit www.acs.com.hk. • ACS Launches Smart Card Reader Module Product Line

HONG KONG, 20 April, 2015 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), today launched the smart card reader module product line. The new product line, currently containing 5 individual products, elevates flexibility for a diverse array of applications, while providing high-level security. The smart card reader module line is designed to be integrated into embedded systems, which include, but are not limited to: smart card readers, ATM machines, kiosks, and gaming machines. Contact and contactless reader modules are both offered under this product line. Embedded contactless reader modules are based on 13.56 MHz technology. They include ACM1252U-Y3 , a USB NFC (Near Field Communications) reader module with a detachable antenna board . It supports all three NFC modes (card reader/writer, card emulation, and peer-to-peer communication). This reader module supports not only ISO14443 type A and B cards, but also ISO18092 NFC tags, Felica cards and NFC phones . Upon request, ACM1252U-Y3 comes with a Class A, ISO 7816‒compliant Secure Access Module (SAM) slot. The other modules are: ACM1281U-C7, a USB contactless reader module and ACM1281S-C7, a serial contactless reader module. Each has an integrated (on-board) antenna, high-speed communication capability for ISO14443 type A and B contactless cards, and extended APDU support. These two contactless reader modules come with a built-in SAM slot compliant with ISO 7816 (Class A). Meanwhile, the first embedded contact reader module to be launched under this product line is ACM38U-Y. It utilizes the ACR38 core, which has been recognized globally for its high performance capability for ISO7816 smart cards. Its different on-board pin connectors increase flexibility for users by extending the USB connection, smart card connector, and LED signal. It comes in two versions: ACM38U-Y3, a CCID reader module; and ACM38U-Y6, a module with SAM slot support. Since card authentication is done via the SAM interface, ACM38U-Y6 adds another layer of security for applications. “The smart card reader module product line is a timely addition to ACS’s portfolio,” says Gilbert Leung, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing. “It increases flexibility for our clients, while providing top-notch security and convenience. We expect this new product line to add value to a wide range of applications.” Engineering samples are now available. Smart card reader module products will be released commercially in Q3 2015. • ACS Launches ACR890 All-In-One Mobile Smart Card Terminal and Software Development Kit

HONG KONG, 8 May, 2015 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), launched the ACR890 All-In-One Mobile Smart Card Terminal, which combines magnetic stripe, contact, and contactless technologies. ACS also launched the ACR890 Software Development Kit (SDK). “Even as older systems require replacement, companies cannot just throw out systems they have invested in,” says Gilbert Leung, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing. “We are thus glad to offer solutions that will help companies that are transitioning from, say, magnetic stripe to contactless, or combining different interfaces for their applications. At the same time, our solution has new features to improve the overall experience of users. ” ACR890 combines wireless data communication, firmware-upgradeability, and highly interactive user interface features (high-resolution color display, touch screen LCD, audio speaker and built-in thermal printer). It can use different connectivity types (GPRS/3G, Wi-Fi, USB, and serial ports) to communicate with other external devices within a network. ACR890 accommodates organizations with different technological standards by supporting ISO 7816‒compliant Class A, B, and C cards; ISO 14443‒compliant Type A and B cards; MIFARE Classic Cards; FeliCa Cards; and ISO 7811 Tracks 1, 2, and 3 magnetic stripe cards. Its contactless support makes it ideal for mass-market applications, such as transport, loyalty, and payment. Its contact interface makes it suited for e-government applications, while its magnetic stripe support makes it applicable for loyalty and e-purse applications. It is standalone and handheld, making it primarily a field-based device. However, its different connectivity types make it also suitable for office-based operations. Meanwhile, the SDK contains a standalone device demo, a simulation of a bus fare application, and device setting configurations. It also contains sample codes (which include source codes to help users develop their own applications), user manuals, and other reference documents. “ACR890 is versatile, high-performing, and priced competitively,” adds Gilbert. “We are confident that it can become an indispensable part of many solutions worldwide.” ACR890 is also compliant with CE, FCC, and RoHS2. • ACS Discusses EMV in Cards & Payments Asia 2015

HONG KONG, 29 April, 2015 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), participated in Cards & Payments Asia 2015, which was held from 22 to 23 April, in Singapore. Michael Chan, Assistant Product Marketing Manager, conducted a presentation entitled, “What Makes Migration to EMV a Smart Bet for the Banking Sector.” EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) is a global secure standard for payment transactions. It covers card-present transactions using a contact chip interface. Currently, almost 30 percent of card-present transactions worldwide are EMV. These figures are expected to be driven up further by high fraud rates, and the lack of cost-effective processing and reliable communications infrastructure. With EMV, banks benefit from more approved transactions and greater revenues. Banks are also able to reduce expenses stemming from the need to reissue cards due to card counterfeiting. Michael presented business cases to demonstrate the impacts of EMV in an organization. He emphasized, however, that EMV deployment is more than a matter of buying new technology; it is also a matter of finding suitable resources and partners. With the right resources and partners, banks can ensure that migration to an EMV system will progress painlessly. There are quite a number of considerations associated with EMV migration. An issuer should be able to address concerns that include key management, card personalization, PIN assignment, branch issuance, clearing and settlement, and consumer education. Meanwhile, the acquirer-in this case, the banking sector-will need to be able to address concerns regarding customer support, merchant training, terminal management, and so forth. Transitioning to EMV will introduce a dynamic element to each transaction that that elevates security. In addition, EMV has risk management capabilities that issuers can maximize when authorizing transactions at point-of-sales (POS), making security flexible. For more information about EMV and EMV solutions, email [email protected]. About ACS Advanced Card Systems Ltd.
