  • ACS participates as exhibitor and speaker in Cartes in Asia 2012

HONG KONG, 18 April, 2012 – Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number 1 supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), was among the exhibitors and speakers in the recently concluded Cartes in Asia Tradeshow and Conference, which was held at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong from 28 to 29 March, 2012. One of the event’s main highlights was the 2-day conference, in which ACS representatives, Ms. Zoe Ko and Mr. Steven Tang, delivered speeches about contactless payments and two factor authentication, respectively. Zoe, ACS’s Assistant Manager for Sales and Marketing Communications, was among the speakers in the NFC Technology & Applications session, while Steven, ACS’s Regional Sales Manager, was among the presenters in the e-Transactions/Banking conference. Zoe’s presentation on the “Future Trends of Contactless Payment for Transit and Non-Transit” covered the evolution of contactless payment applications. She explained how the infrastructure developed out of efforts to provide a more convenient alternative to cash, token or magnetic card based payments, and how it has transitioned to cover other sectors beyond transportation. Using ACS’s very own ACR122U NFC Contactless Smart Card Reader, Zoe demonstrated how this operation can easily be done with the use of a contactless reader and a contactless card. Furthermore, she emphasized on the entrance of NFC technology, and how it presents more opportunities for the industry by allowing NFC-enabled devices other than cards, such as mobile phones, to be used for making contactless payments. Meanwhile, Steven’s topic about “Discussing Alternatives of 2-Factor Authentication of e-Banking Transactions” introduced various two-factor authentication solutions-from traditional OTP tokens to more sophisticated methods using smart card and EMV technology, and dynamic password generators. Steven used ACS’s very own APG8201 and APG8202 PINHandy Dynamic Password Generators to show how banking merchants and customers alike can execute secure online banking transactions and prevent getting victimized by fraudulent attacks. In conclusion, he emphasized that banks themselves have the discretion when it comes to choosing the right two-factor authentication solution that best satisfies their need for security, manageability, implementation, ease of use and scalability. ACS's Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Mr. Gilbert Leung, spoke on the company’s behalf and expressed his gratitude for ACS’s ability to share its expertise on NFC technology and e-Banking during Cartes’ conference sessions. “We hope that through these presentations, we were able to let both players and enthusiasts of this industry better appreciate the expanding role of smart card technology in providing more convenient and secure solutions for the payment and banking sectors,” Gilbert commented. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number 1 supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), was present to showcase its Near Field Communication (NFC) solutions and knowhow during the exhibition and conference at Cards and Payments Asia 2012 in Singapore. ACS Regional Sales Manager, Mr. Gordon Lee; and ACS Assistant Product Marketing Manager, Ms. Richelle Arjona, took over the reins for ACS in the conference as they delivered speeches about NFC. Gordon discussed NFC in relation to RFID and smart card technology. With the title “Is NFC equal to RFID? How to leverage NFC with smart card technology?”, his discussion enlightened the audience about NFC’s role as a subset of RFID technology, and as the current hottest commodity in the contactless industry. Gordon explained the three modes of NFC, namely, the reader/writer, card emulation and peer-to-peer communication modes. The last two modes of which are what separate NFC from traditional RFID devices. Likewise, he enumerated the various form factors where NFC can be built, showing how flexible and versatile the technology is in terms of practical applications. In conclusion to his presentation, Gordon showed the effects of NFC to the smart card technology industry, explaining that the growth of the former results to more demands in card and reader deployments for the latter. On the other hand, Richelle’s presentation, entitled “NFC: Why is it for me?”, dealt with the definition and prevailing market trends of NFC technology, underscoring the role of NFC in the age of converging technologies. She provided various examples of how the components of this technology, including contactless cards and readers, are used to make daily transactions much easier, particularly within the sectors of transportation and payment. Richelle also highlighted the role of ACS in today’s growing NFC industry by showing a number of project references illustrating ACS’s successful NFC deployments throughout the world. Through these topics, she was able to demonstrate the applicability of NFC in everyone’s daily undertakings. One of Asia’s biggest events for the cards sector, Cards and Payments Asia was held this year at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Singapore from the 25th to the 27th of April, 2012. • ACS ACR330 the first certified transit terminal under Visa Contactless Transit Kernel Specification (VCTKS)

HONG KONG, 03 Apr, 2020 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), becomes the first in the world to provide a Visa Contactless Transit Kernel Specification v1.0.2 (VCTKS) certified transit terminal, ACR330.  VISA releases a new specification, VCTKS, to define the functionalities applying to contactless kernels implemented in the transit payment ecosystem in December 2019. VCTKS replaces Visa ODA for qVSDC Online Specification (VOQOS) and becomes a new standard to verify a Visa-approved or Visa-compliant transit terminal. ACS appointed the Applus+ IT laboratory in Shanghai, China, to conduct the testing of VCTKS for ACR330 and passed the testing, endorsing ACR330 is the first VCTKS-compliant transit terminal in the world.  The Mass Transit Transaction (MTT) and the Known Fare Transaction (KFT) are of paramount importance transit models to VCTKS. VCTKS outlines the requirements and recommendations to provide either a MTT or a KFT Visa-compliant transit terminal, which ACR330 can perfectly perform.
