  • ACS ACR330 the first certified transit terminal under Visa Contactless Transit Kernel Specification (VCTKS)

HONG KONG, 03 Apr, 2020 - Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS), Asia Pacific's top supplier and one of the world's top 3 suppliers of PC-linked smart card readers (Source: Frost & Sullivan), becomes the first in the world to provide a Visa Contactless Transit Kernel Specification v1.0.2 (VCTKS) certified transit terminal, ACR330.  VISA releases a new specification, VCTKS, to define the functionalities applying to contactless kernels implemented in the transit payment ecosystem in December 2019. VCTKS replaces Visa ODA for qVSDC Online Specification (VOQOS) and becomes a new standard to verify a Visa-approved or Visa-compliant transit terminal. ACS appointed the Applus+ IT laboratory in Shanghai, China, to conduct the testing of VCTKS for ACR330 and passed the testing, endorsing ACR330 is the first VCTKS-compliant transit terminal in the world.  The Mass Transit Transaction (MTT) and the Known Fare Transaction (KFT) are of paramount importance transit models to VCTKS. VCTKS outlines the requirements and recommendations to provide either a MTT or a KFT Visa-compliant transit terminal, which ACR330 can perfectly perform. The corresponding ACR330 SDK is also available on ACS.  This is a great example of anticipating the expansion of contactless payments in transit and demonstrating ACS’s determination of providing the advanced technology to customers. ACS will continue striving for excellence bringing the best of smart card technology to the world. This serial version has been introduced to accommodate more devices, such as POS terminals, vending machines, and so forth, which have different serial ports. The ACR1281S-C1 DualBoost II is an upgrade from the ACR128U DualBoost, ACS’s first-generation dual interface reader. It also has excellent compatibility with existing and future systems. Other features include: Support for a wide range of cards Supports not only contactless cards (ISO 14443 types A&B cards, Mifare, Mifare DESFire, and Mifare Plus) but also ISO7816-compliant contact MCU and memory cards Security Has a built-in ISO7816-compliant secure access module (SAM) slot for safer transactions Flexibility Has serial RS-232 interface and driverless operation for easy integration to different devices, such as vending machines and POS terminalsIs firmware-upgradable to keep pace with future system enhancements Intelligent support for hybrid and combi cards Can detect contactless cards or contactless interface of hybrid /combi cards incorrectly inserted into the contact card slot High performance for demanding applications Has contactless extended APDU support and high read/write speed to quickly process large amounts of data The ACR1281S-C1 is part of the ACR1281 DualBoost II dual interface reader series. This increases the need for an efficient dual interface reader, and the ACR1281 DualBoost II series was designed to fill this need.“A serial version of the dual interface reader is a more competitive reader-one that works with more devices, runs more applications, and is adapted more easily to changing systems,” said Mr Gilbert Leung, Vice President, Sales and Marketing of ACS. “Devices like the ACR1281S-C1 don’t just help users stick to a minimum number of devices for a maximum number of needs, but also improve the quality of life by streamlining technology.”For more information of ACR1281S-C1, please click here.   About ACS Advanced Card Systems Ltd.
